Here’s a process to convert a computer from one Microsoft 365 Tenant to a new tenant. This is something that worked for our users as we migrated from one tenant to another. So maybe be able some of this info will help you.
The
basic outline is that users will create a local administrator account on their
computer. This will allow them to
disjoin the current tenant and then join the new tenant.
Once the join is completed, this local administrator account can be removed.
Assumptions in this document
Windows 11 Users, although the 10 experiences should be basically the same.
Users
are provided with the new username and password to their new tenant account. They were provided with these steps below to self-convert their computers.
Users
are using Microsoft MFA (these steps can be bypassed or altered for your needs)
Users
have ability to create a local administrator account on their PC.
Users
already have a configured account in the new tenant.
This
document does not cover the migration of OneDrive data or Outlook Data. That data was migrated using a separate tool set.
Conversion
(in our use) did not affect data stored in the previous tenant profile on the
PC.
Users could reach and move data out of it prior to removing it from the system
at their discretion.
